IsabellaはNovaがジュエリー教室を開いてから毎年ジュエリーを作りに来ているそうです。この人に出会った時「こんな風に年をとりたい。創作を続けたい」でした。私は世の中をかなり馬鹿にして観ているところがあって、そんな捻じ曲がった心は、なかなか他人に動かされないのですが、人生のお手本に出会えて本当にうれしいです。本業は画家で、毎年スイスで個展をしているそうで、アジアを巡って集めた物やNugoonのワークショップで作った物を組み合わせて作ったジュエリーは、いつも完売だそうです。他にビルマやラオスの子供達の絵葉書を売って、飢えた子供達の食糧を買うために寄付する活動をしています。私の夫Nugoonは英語でジュエリー作りを教えているのですが、彼女はほとんど英語をしゃべれません。辞書をひきながら、ほとんど
イタリア語で、大胆不敵なでっかいクリスタルのジュエリーをどんどんつくるつくる。今回は2週間半教室に通ってきましたが、写真のようなでっかい（右の指輪なんて子供のての平くらいの大きさの水晶）ジュエリーを20個くらいつくりました。年をとったら老眼になってジュエリー製作を続けられないのではないか？という私の不安を見事に払拭してくれました。その時作れる物を作ったらいいんですよね。私が作るのではなく、様々な力に作らせてもらっているんですものね。私の作る物をIsabellaは「ピッコロピッコロ（イタリア語で小さいの意）」と言います。

それとIsabellaに会って気がついたのは、実に人生何をやっても無駄はない。２０代にイタリア狂だった私はイタリア語も習っていたんです。いつも「こんなことをして何になる（金にならない）」でもお陰で、少しだけれど、Isabelaのために通訳ができました。素敵な人のお役に立ててとてもうれしい。

Isabella came to take the jewelry class in Nova art lab every year since Nova opened the art lab. This year she stayed for two weeks and made more than twenty jewelries with crystals. Most of the crystals were as big as the kid's palm. I was well impressed by her energetic creation. I wish to continue jewelry making like her even when I get older and my eyes cannot see the tiny staff. I should make just what I can do according to the condition. When you create things nothing whatsoever should be clung to.
Isabella is painter. She painted pictures of Asian children whom she met during her travel. She made postcards of the pictures and sell them to donate money to those poor kids. She sells her jewelries too. She gave me the catalogue of the jewelries composed of the things that she collected on her journey in Southeast Asia. I could see many good staff help her work. I know it was real pleasure to help her because I worked for her as translator a bit though. She is Italian Swiss and cannot speak English well. In the jewelry class we communicate in English. She uses the dictionary but sometimes it was tough. I used to be crazy about Italian culture and learned the language. Whenever I spent time on Italian I wondered if it might be waste of time. I was silly and did not think any thing worthwhile with which I could not make money. Now I know what you want to do will help you in future. Not waste of time. Bring the conversation back to Isabella. I would like to be Isabella like person for whom people are pleased to work. After having the painting exhibition in this summer she will come back to Chiang mai in September. I am very looking forward to seeing what she will be.
